Snow Tubing Time!

I grew up in Las Vegas, so winters in New York and now Maine, were never my thing. I loved summer, the heat, the sun…summer was my favorite. So it’s a little shocking to admit this to myself, but I might be starting to like winter! Things are just cozier and snugglier in the winter. And you get to do fun things like go snow tubing, which we did today. I think I had more fun than the kids did!

My Birthday

I tend to disregard my birthday, and treat it like any other day. But yesterday Noah made mine extra nice and special. First off, he gave me the Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook. Love it! Then while I was working at the store, he came in with our boys and surprised me with birthday cupcakes and ice cream. The lavender cupcake was delish. After work he took me out to dinner while his dad watched Darby and River. We actually did a restaurant crawl…cocktails and oysters at Eventide, a drink at LFKs, then shared pork buns and ramen at Pai Men Miyake. It was a super fun night and we laughed a lot. Yay for birthdays.

Do Not Drink The Water

There was a water main break in Portland today. Our store was in the area affected and we were advised not to drink the water unless boiled first. I spaced out and drank lots of tap water all day, while telling others not to. Uh oh. That’s uh oh about the water I drank, and uh oh about my feeble brain.

Picnic Pics

The Picnic Holiday Sale was last Sunday, but I’m just getting to posting about it now. I think it was the funnest Picnic ever! Well worth the months of planning and organizing behind the scenes. We had record attendance and more Yeti pictures this year than ever before! We changed the floor plan slightly and that helped tremendously with the flow of traffic. Here are some pics from Sunday.

XNY: Maine

Last night was the opening of Bryan Bruchman’s photography exhibit, XNY: Maine, at Pinecone+Chickadee. The XNY exhibit opened at Fort Useless in Brooklyn, NY in June 2012, and looked at two artists who lived in New York City for a number of years before finding a new city to call home, asking the question of how - if at all - NYC changes the way you see other cities. These 7 large photographic prints by Bryan Bruchman represent 3 years spent living in Portland, Maine as well as visiting NY while away, and later visiting to Maine after moving back. The exhibit will be up all month, stop by if you missed it last night!
