We were enjoying the outdoors at a friend’s lake house the other day. I tried to brush a leaf off a chair before sitting down, but lo and behold, it wasn’t a leaf at all. It was the cutest caterpillar in the world.
This past weekend we had a photo shoot for our t-shirts. Our models were so awesome! Thank you Kris, Meagan, Kate H, Darby, Petra, Mattea and River! Eventually we plan to use the pics for a brand spanking new website for Pinecone+Chickadee. But I’m so busy that realistically, I probably won’t be able to get it done until maybe the end of next month. That’s my goal. We’ll see.
Tonight was our store’s 1 year anniversary bash. It was super fun! Noah hung a pinata and it was hilarious watching everyone take a swing. Then we played pin the tail on the donkey, which was also pretty comical. This past year has been really special. Thank you Kate, Kris, Jess, Elise, Chelsea, Julia, Laura, Maleah and everyone else who came out to help us celebrate. Yay, we’re 1!
We just came back from the most amazing time camping. We were really excited about the trip because we rented a vintage 1961 air stream trailer. It was so cute and cozy. We were also thrilled because we found a campsite where we could park the airstream and put up a tent right on the sandy beach of a lake. It was such a fun time! The campsite wasn’t that far from home and some good friends of Darby’s came and visited. We swam, canoed, roasted marshmallows, made smores, and gazed at the stars. It was just the best.
Our Cats Vs Dogs art show opened tonight at our shop. If you didn’t get a chance to swing by, the show will be up for the next month. But pieces will disappear as they get bought, so come by sooner rather than later!
Summer is my absolute favorite. Last year we didn’t get to do as much summertime fun activities as we would have liked, what with the birth of River and opening up the shop and all. This year we’ve fully been taking advantage of the summer sun. We’ve already spent countless days at the outdoor public pool by our house, gone swimming at our secret pond out in the country, and had lazy afternoons on the beach. And on Monday we went to Aquaboggon! It’s a water park only 20 minutes outside of Portland. It was so fun. Here are some pics of our day.
Noah and I finally saw Moonrise Kingdom last night, Wes Anderson’s new movie. It was so good! I could definitely watch it again and again. I adored the 1960s fashion. Little Suzy Bishop looked amazing wearing blue eyeshadow with thick black liquid eyeliner. I loved when she ran away she packed her favorite books, a record player, and a kitten. I so wanted to read the books she takes with her. They looked like such good reads! But alas I discovered Wes Anderson commissioned 6 artists to design the cover art for each book, and Anderson himself wrote the passages Suzy reads aloud during the movie.

After hearing people rave about the Holy Donut, a new gourmet donut shop in town, we decided to see what the fuss was about. To our disappointment, they were completely sold out the day we went. So today, after a few errands this morning, I went and brought home some donuts for Noah and I to share. Unbeknownst to me, while I was out, Noah also went to the Holy Donut and brought home donuts for us to share. I write this feeling slightly queasy from devouring way too many donuts no human should ever consume in one day, but let me tell you they were goooooood. Yes, probably the best donuts I’ve ever had. Dark Chocolate Sea Salt was my absolute fave, but Sweet Potato Ginger, Pomegranate, Roasted Pistachio, Maple Glazed, Fresh Lemon Glazed are also pretty delicious.
